Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of using chlorhexidine 0.12% in oral hygiene to prevent ventilator-associated pneumonia in the critical care unit(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-12-01) Rivera Vicuña, Cecilia Flora; Quintana Atencio, Liz Noemi; Arevalo Marcos, Rodolfo AmadoObjective: To analyze the effectiveness of using 0.12% chlorhexidine in oral cleaning to prevent pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilators in the critical area. Material and method: A systematic study of research articles is carried out, which have been obtained by searching the database: Epistemonikos, PubMed, Elsevier, Scielo, and Science Direct, chosen and analyzed using the Grade System to locate the degree of respective evidence. The search for articles was carried out using the DECS and MESH descriptors. Results: It is observed that when evaluating the articles it is obtained that 20% (2/10) correspond to China, 20% (2/10) correspond to Colombia, 10% (1/10) correspond to Peru, 20% (2/10) of the reviewed articles also belong to Brazil and the other 30% (3/10) correspond to other countries. Conclusions: It is found that of the total of 10 of the evidences studied, they concluded that the effectiveness of the use of 0.12% chlorhexidine in 80% does have an effect since it reduces respiratory tract infections, preventing pneumonia; and 20% of the studies analyzed do not have much effect.
