Its objective was to determine the risk of depression in older adults according to the Yesavage test at the Rodulfa Viuda de Canevaro Residential Center in December 2011. The population consisted of 353 adults aged 60 and older. Using Cochran's equation, a sample of 153 older adults was calculated. The technique applied was an interview, using the Yesavage test as the instrument. According to the results, 50.3% (77) showed a moderate risk of depression, and 28.1% (43) showed a severe risk of depression. Regarding age, it was found that 19.6% of those in the 60-70 and 71-80 age groups presented a moderate risk of depression. Additionally, regarding gender, the study showed that 28% (43) of females and 22.2% (34) of males presented a moderate risk of depression. It was concluded that, according to the Yesavage test, more than 50% of the respondents show a moderate risk of depression. No significant differences were found in the relationship between depression, age, and gender.
