    Balance is also affected in aging, due to progressive biological deterioration and pre-existing diseases the elderly may have. Assessing balance with validated and reliable methods is essential to identify and prevent risk factors early, as balance impairments are one of the leading causes of falls and dependency in older adults. Many older adults experience a progressive decline in functional capacity due to age-related changes such as loss of musculoskeletal functions, muscle strength, and pre-existing conditions, which leads to dependence on family members or healthcare assistants, affecting the older adult socially and emotionally.
