OBJECTIVE: Determine the level of knowledge about the management of the central venous catheter of the nurses in the emergency service of the Hospital San José de Chincha, Ica-Peru 2021. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The approach to be used in this study is quantitative, and The design to be addressed is non-experimental, descriptive-transversal. The population will be made up of 30 nursing professionals who work in the emergency service. The technique to be used will be the survey and the instrument will be the questionnaire, which is nationally validated. It is composed of 10 multiple-choice questions that respond to its two dimensions: Dimension on generalities of the central venous catheter: Questions from 1 to 6, and Dimension on central venous catheter care: Questions from 7 to 10. The overall score ranges between 0. and 20 points, their final values being: high, medium and low level of knowledge about the management of the central venous catheter. To determine reliability, first the pilot test was carried out and then reliability was calculated using Cronbach's Alpha with the following result: 0.732, that is, the instrument is very reliable.
