Ítem Acceso abierto Strategies for coping with stress and psychological well-being in nursing staff of the INEN emergency service - 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-12-28) Rojas Valdez, Rosa; Tamayo Toro, Mónica AlexandraThe objective of this study was to determine the relationship between coping strategies for stress and psychological well-being in nursing staff working in the emergency service of the INEN during 2019. This was a hypothetical-deductive study with numerical assignment to observable phenomena for quantification, without intentional manipulation of one or more variables, and with a single measurement. The CSI instrument by Tobin (1989) was used for coping strategies, and Ryff's Psychological Well-being Scale (1989) was used for well-being. Findings indicated that, with statistical significance, all strategies except Emotional Expression and Social Withdrawal correlated significantly (p < .05) and directly (rho > 0) with psychological well-being, except for the Problem Avoidance dimension, which showed a significant inverse correlation (p < .05, rho < 0). The study concludes that nursing staff who generally face stressful situations by using cognitive restructuring or focus energy on directly resolving adverse situations or managing social support tend to show greater psychological well-being. Conversely, those who avoid facing problems tend to show less psychological well-being.
