In this secondary research study with the critical review title: “Omega 3 supplementation on the lipid profile in patients with chronic kidney disease with hemodialysis treatment”, the objective is to identify the effect of omega 3 supplementation on the lipid profile. lipid in patients with CKD with hemodialysis treatment. The clinical question being the following: Will omega 3 supplementation (capsules) improve the lipid profile (expressed in TC, LDL, HDL and TG) in CKD with hemodialysis treatment?, using the “Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE)” methodology. The databases used for the bibliographic search were “PUBMED, MEDLINE, SCIELO, SCOPUS, DIALNET, reporting 200 scientific investigations, choosing 11 articles to be evaluated by the CASPE critical reading tool, being selected the systematic review with meta-analysis “Effect of supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids on oxidative and cardiometabolic stress parameters in patients with chronic kidney disease: systematic review and meta-analysis”, presented the level of BI evidence and Fuerte's degree of recommendation, with respect to the researcher's experience. The conclusion of this critical comment is that omega 3 supplementation is recommended for reducing total cholesterol and triglycerides in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis treatment.
