Materials and Methods: The study was cross-sectional, descriptive, and observational. The population consisted of 50 adolescent mothers who were administered two instruments, the first being a family functionality questionnaire with 32 statements, and the second a checklist for practices, with 26 items. Results: Regarding family functioning, 58% (29) of the adolescent mothers surveyed reported functional family functioning, while 42% (21) reported dysfunctional family functioning. Regarding the newborn care practices of the adolescent mothers, 64% (32) reported appropriate practices, and 36% (18) reported inadequate practices. Conclusions: The majority of adolescent mothers showed functional family functioning, particularly in areas of family structure, conflict resolution, and emotional environment. Most adolescent mothers had adequate practices in newborn care, including dressing, hygiene, identification of warning signs, rest and sleep, breastfeeding, and urination and bowel movements. No relationship was found between family functionality and newborn care practices in adolescent mothers according to the Chi-Square test with a p-value of 0.390> 0.05.Ítem Acceso abierto Family functionality and its relationship with newborn care practices in adolescent mothers treated at the National Teaching Hospital Madre Niño San Bartolomé(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017) Munárriz Ulloa, Fernanda Lucía; Ropa Puma, Violeta Iris; Borda Izquierdo, AlejandroObjective: To determine the relationship between family functionality and newborn care practices in adolescent mothers treated at the National Teaching Hospital Madre Niño San Bartolomé.
