Publicación Acceso abierto Relación entre hemoglobina, hematocrito y recuento de glóbulos rojos con el IMC en escolares de 6 a 15 años en la I.E. Virgen del Rosario en el AA.HH. Pachacutec – Ventanilla 2014(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Eritza Madeley, Valerio Gómez; Roque Magno, Edinson Lee; Parreño Tipián, Juan ManuelA descriptive, cross-sectional, non-experimental, and correlational study was conducted on hematimetric parameters—hemoglobin (Hb), hematocrit (Hct), and red blood cell count (RBC)—using the cyanmethemoglobin, microhematocrit, and hematimetry methods, respectively, along with the anthropometric parameter Body Mass Index (BMI), measured by the Quetelet method. The study included 65 schoolchildren of both sexes, aged 6 to 15 years, with informed consent from their parents, from the Educational Institution Virgen del Rosario in the human settlement (AAHH) Pachacutec – Ventanilla during 2014. The following results were obtained: Hb: 3% decreased and 13% increased; Hct: 15% decreased and 2% increased; RBC: 15% oligocythemia and 2% polycythemia; BMI: 12% underweight, 27% overweight, and 7% obesity. When correlating hematological parameters with BMI, a low but significant positive statistical correlation was found between Hb, Hct, and RBC with BMI, which can be generalized to a broader population.
