The objective of this study is to analyze the method of disposal of expired pharmaceutical products for older adults residing in a neighborhood of Cajabamba. The research method and design are transversal, descriptive, non-experimental, inductive and quantitative. The target population is made up of an indefinite number of older adults who reside in the Alameda Florida neighborhood. The sample used consists of 113 older adults residing in the same neighborhood. As a result of the survey, 46% of respondents are between 60 and 70 years old, while 44.2% are in the range of 70 to 80 years old, and 9.7% are 80 years old or older. . . In terms of gender, 61.9% of the participants are men and 38.1% are women. Regarding cohabitation, 50.4% live with someone, while 49.6% live alone. Regarding the disposal of medications, 40.7% eliminated capsules, 38.9% opted for the oral suspension and 20.4% eliminated tablets. In addition, 37.2% eliminate blister packs, 34.5% units and 28.3% bottles. Finally, 24.8% of respondents dispose of pharmaceutical products through collection centers, 22.1% through donations and consumption, and only 8% use other disposal methods. It was concluded that older adults residing in a neighborhood of Cajabamba, Cajamarca, in 2024, usually dispose of expired pharmaceutical products safely and appropriately.
