Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of the educational program "I Know and Prevent TB" to improve the knowledge level of tuberculosis in 4th and 5th-grade secondary students at the N°5082 Sarita Colonia educational institution, Callao(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-11-29) Sánchez Rivera, Ana Rosa; Regalado Peña, Mercedes Guillermina; Millones Gómez, Segundo GermánObjective To determine the effectiveness of the educational program “I know and prevent TB” to improve the level of knowledge of tuberculosis in 4th and 5th grade secondary school students of said Educational Institution. Material and method The present study has a quantitative approach, in terms of design it is a quasi-experimental and longitudinal study. The population was made up of 104 students from the 4th and 5th grades of secondary school. The survey was used as a technique and a questionnaire consisting of 15 questions was used as an instrument, which identified the level of knowledge before and after the application of the educational program. Results The T-Student statistical test for related samples was used, which determined the significant difference between the results of the pre-test and the post-test. To counter the hypothesis, a P value <0.05 was considered significant results. Before applying the educational program (pre-test), only 23% of students presented an adequate level of knowledge and 77% of them presented a level of knowledge between regular and low. Likewise, after the application of the educational program (post-test), all students (100%) presented a high level of knowledge. Conclusion The educational program “I know and prevent TB” was effective, completely increasing the level of knowledge about tuberculosis in the students.
