    Effectiveness of educational interventions on lifestyle changes in elderly patients with arterial hypertension

    Objective: To determine the effectiveness of educational interventions to promote lifestyle changes in patients with hypertension. Materials and Methods: The present study employed a qualitative research design through systematic reviews. The population consisted of 35 articles, and the sample included 10 articles. The instrument used was a database search in Lipecs, Lilacs, Scielo, Cochrane Plus, PubMed, and Medline, and the articles were analyzed using the GRADE system. Results: In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, with the distribution by country as follows: 30% (3) from Spain, 20% (6) from Colombia, Mexico, and Cuba, and only 10% (1) from Peru. The studies were analyzed by study type, with 50% (5) being qualitative and 50% (5) quantitative. The study designs were also classified, with 50% (5) being randomized clinical trials and 50% (5) quasi-experimental designs. Conclusions: The reviewed studies showed that 80% of educational interventions were effective in promoting lifestyle changes in hypertensive patients, while 20% of the educational interventions were not effective in promoting lifestyle changes, according to the systematic reviews.
