"rambután"(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-01-30) Salazar Barrios, Evelin Patricia; Palomino Ludeña, Mirian; Justil Guerrero, Hugo JesúsThe objective was to determine the anti-inflammatory effect and antioxidant capacity of the hydroalcoholic extract from the pericarp of Nephelium lappaceum L. 'rambutan.' Method: For the anti-inflammatory effect, the 3% carrageenan-induced plantar edema model (Winter et al. modified) was used. Seven groups of six mice were formed. After one hour, 0.1 mL of 3% carrageenan was administered, and the edema of the inflamed paw was measured at 1, 2, 3, and 4 hours. For the antioxidant capacity, the modified Lalitha and Selvam method was used. 6 mL of blood was extracted, and eight groups of three replicates each were prepared. The samples were centrifuged at 1500 rpm for 10 minutes, and the absorbance was measured at 415 nm at 50 and 90 minutes. Results: The 500 mg/kg dose showed the highest anti-inflammatory effect (22.58%) at the 4-hour mark. For antioxidant capacity, the 50 µg/mL concentration yielded the best result at 50 minutes (95.54%), while the 100 µg/mL concentration was the best at 90 minutes (77.95%). Conclusion: The anti-inflammatory effect and antioxidant capacity of the hydroalcoholic extract from the pericarp of Nephelium lappaceum L. 'rambutan' were confirmed.
