    Systemic review: Protein-energy wasting in pediatric patients on renal replacement therapy

    Objective: Determine the impact of DPE in children with chronic kidney disease on renal replacement therapy. Materials and methods: Academic work of bibliographic review. Information was collected through the search procedure for scientific articles according to the search algorithm: PICO model. The evaluation of validity, quality, strength of recommendation of the scientific evidence, usefulness of the findings and ethical aspects was carried out. Results: 33 scientific articles were collected, of which 14 were selected. 42% of this selection studied protein-energy wasting in pediatric patients on renal replacement therapy. Conclusions: Although loss of appetite and increased growth retardation are common in both pediatric patients with chronic kidney disease whether with or without renal replacement therapy, the greatest impact of DPE is observed in pediatric patients than they receive, mainly in hemodialysis.
