Study population: Women of reproductive age who attended the Gynecology and Obstetrics outpatient clinics at Hospital San José del Callao. Instrument: A questionnaire validated by expert judgment. Results: The average age was 32 years; 55% of the women had completed secondary education, 43% were cohabiting, and 51% were homemakers. Among the participants, 67.8% knew the sample is taken from the cervix, 82.6% were aware that a Pap smear is important for detecting cervical cancer, and 80.7% knew they should undergo the test after starting sexual activity. Additionally, 65.3% knew the requirements for the Pap smear, 86% were aware the test should be conducted annually, and 84% agreed it should be performed after initiating sexual activity. Furthermore, 45.9% preferred the test to be conducted by a female healthcare provider, 69.2% wanted to know how the test is performed, and 90% agreed to undergo the test again in the future.Ítem Acceso abierto (Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017) Díaz Silva, Lethy; Salcedo Suárez, Katty LeticiaObjective: To determine the maternal, obstetric, and neonatal characteristics in postpartum women with perineal tear treated at the Hipólito Unanue National Hospital in 2016. Materials and Methods: This study is descriptive, retrospective, and cross-sectional. The sample consisted of 144 medical records that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, with a diagnosis of perineal tear during 2016. Results: Among the maternal characteristics, the highest percentage of perineal tears occurred in the 20-34 age group (56.25%), with 82.64% having secondary education and 89.58% being cohabiting. Also, 52.78% of the women with mild anemia had perineal tears. As for obstetric characteristics, 63.49% were multiparous, 56.25% had an expulsive period of ≤10 minutes, and 70.83% of those who did not attend psychoprophylaxis sessions had perineal tears. Regarding neonatal factors, no significant differences were found in head circumference and sex of the newborn. In terms of weight, the highest percentage of perineal tears occurred in newborns weighing 3500-4000 grams (58.33%). The most frequent degree of tears was first-degree, with 79.17%. Conclusions: Regarding maternal characteristics, the highest frequency of perineal tears was observed in women aged 20-34 years, those with secondary education, and cohabiting women. Patients with anemia had a higher percentage of perineal tears. Among obstetric characteristics, multiparous women, those with an expulsive period ≤10 minutes, and women unprepared for obstetric psychoprophylaxis had a higher frequency of perineal tears. Concerning neonatal characteristics, the highest frequency of perineal tears occurred in newborns weighing 3500-4000 grams during childbirth at the Hipólito Unanue National Hospital. No significant differences were found in head circumference or sex of the newborn. January – December. 2019-2020(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-01-18) Valencia Motta, Diana Milagros; Salcedo Suárez, Katty LeticiaObjetivo: Analizar la asociación entre anemia y complicaciones maternas durante el parto y complicaciones neonatales en pacientes atendidas en el Hospital Santa Rosa durante 2019-2020. Materiales y métodos: El estudio es observacional, caso-control, analítico, retrospectivo y transversal. Resultados: En cuanto a las características sociodemográficas, hubo diferencia significativa en la edad materna entre el grupo de casos y controles durante 2019-2020 (p=0,0035). En cuanto a las características reproductivas, la paridad en las gestantes con anemia fue relevante durante el periodo 2019-2020 (p=0,026). No se encontraron diferencias significativas en el nivel de anemia. Entre las complicaciones maternas, la más asociada a anemia fue la ruptura prematura de membranas (p=0,001, OR: 5,44), y entre las complicaciones neonatales, el bajo peso al nacer fue la más asociada a anemia (p=0,007, OR: 18,328). Conclusión: Existe una asociación entre anemia y complicaciones maternas durante el parto y complicaciones neonatales. Las asociaciones más notables fueron la ruptura prematura de membranas en las embarazadas y el bajo peso al nacer en los recién nacidos.Ítem Acceso abierto Breastfeeding in primiparous women bibliographic review(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-06-16) La Torre Chalco, Catherine Cristina; Salcedo Suárez, Katty LeticiaObjective: To describe the scientific evidence on exclusive breastfeeding in primiparas. Materials and methods: The methodology used in this study is a bibliographic review. The sample consisted of 31 articles published in the following virtual libraries: Scielo, Lilacs, and Sciencedirect. Results: 65% of the reviewed studies used a descriptive methodology, 29% used an analytical methodology, and 19% used a review methodology. The negative impact of exclusive breastfeeding in primiparas included respiratory and gastrointestinal infections, while the positive impact favored optimal growth in children. The existence of beliefs about exclusive breastfeeding in primiparas included the consumption of unhealthy foods for proper milk production, and the practice of exclusive breastfeeding in primiparas was adequate. Conclusions: There is scientific evidence on the consequences, beliefs, and practices of exclusive breastfeeding in primiparas.Ítem Acceso abierto Characteristics of pregnant women with perineal tears during childbirth at María Auxiliadora Hospital in 2016(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-03-09) Márquez Loarte, Claudia Ruth; Plasencia Requejo, Maria Cynthia; Salcedo Suárez, Katty LeticiaMaterials and Method: a retrospective, cross-sectional descriptive study was made up of pregnant women who underwent childbirth and consequently presented a perineal tear, which was recorded in the Clinical History, with a total of 108 cases for the year 2016. Results: Average age was 27 years old, 71.3% are in a cohabiting relationship, 55.6% had completed secondary school, 91% have an occupation their home and 71.3% did not present anemia, average gestational age was 38 weeks, average parity is 2 births per pregnant woman, in relation to the intergenic period it was 4 years on average, the average delivery time was 11 minutes, 75.9% did not participate in the psychoprophylaxis sessions, 70.4% did not have an episiotomy at the time of delivery and 73% presented first degree tear, 50.9% were female and 42% of the newborns weighed between 3000 and 3400 gr. Conclusion: First degree tears were found for the obstetric characteristic and most patients did not attend psychoprophylaxis sessions. Patients with perineal tear had newborns weighing 3000 to 3400g.Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of a workshop on the prevention of pregnancy in adolescents of 5th grade of a public institution, 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-09-18) Casas La Rosa, Lorena Paola; Salcedo Suárez, Katty LeticiaMaterials and Methods: The study was prospective with a field design. The sample consisted of 50 students from a public institution who met the inclusion criteria. Results: The highest percentage of students was 16 years old (69%), with females predominating (67%). Most students identified as Catholic (62%) and were predominantly from Lima (77%). Before the workshop, 50% of the students had a medium level of knowledge about pregnancy prevention. After participating in the workshop on pregnancy prevention, 98% of the students achieved a high level of knowledge. Conclusion: The workshop on pregnancy prevention among adolescents improved knowledge by 48% among fifth-year high school students from the public institution.Ítem Acceso abierto Factors limiting the choice of the intrauterine device in womernin reproductive age atended in the Manuel Barreto Childhood Center in the july – september 2019 period(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-12-18) Cirineo Collana, Janeth Rossi; Salcedo Suárez, Katty LeticiaObjective: To determine the factors limiting the choice of intrauterine devices (IUDs) among women of reproductive age attended at the Manuel Barreto Maternal and Child Center from July to September 2019. Materials and Methods: This was an analytical, prospective, cross-sectional, correlational study with a sample of 264 women of reproductive age, both Peruvian and foreign, attended at the Manuel Barreto Maternal and Child Center. Results: Personal factors limiting the choice of IUDs included cohabitation status (p=0.031) and secondary education level (p=0.005). Cultural factors included the belief that copper IUDs are only suitable for women with children (p=0.021) and religion (p=0.009). Gynecological-obstetric factors limiting IUD choice among Peruvian and foreign women were the number of children (p=0.006), age at first sexual intercourse (p=0.002), and bleeding during sexual intercourse (p=0.042), all of which were statistically significant. It was revealed that the sociodemographic characteristics include: early age, cohabiting marital status, secondary education level, currently working, being from the coastal region, residing in El Agustino, and experiencing psychological family pressure due to economic instability. Additionally, the cultural characteristics highlighted include: machismo, due to the lack of partner participation in household chores, a situation unfortunately justified by the respondents; and the Catholic religion, which most respondents profess. Finally, the most notable economic characteristics are: a monthly income between 600 and 1000 soles, monthly expenses less than 600 soles, three people living in the household, no economic dependency, two family members contributing to household expenses, and living in a brick-built house.
