Ítem Acceso abierto Parents' knowledge and adherence to asthma treatment in children under 5 years old, treated at the Pediatric Emergency Hospital, Lima, 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-07-13) Salgado Ortiz, Vanessa Cynthia; Matta Solis, Eduardo PercyObjective: The objective of this research was to determine the relationship that exists between the level of parental knowledge and adherence to asthma treatment in children under 5 years of age, treated at the Pediatric Emergency Hospital, Lima, 2019. Material and Methods: The study was quantitative, prospective, cross-sectional and descriptive-correlational. The population was made up of 100 parents with children under 5 years of age who attended the Pediatric Emergency Hospital. The interview and 2 instruments were used: NAKQ and Morisky Green Test. Results: Within the results obtained, 63% of parents have a high level of knowledge and 37% have a low level; Regarding adherence, 84% adhere to the treatment and 16% do not adhere. Conclusions: It is determined that there is no significant relationship (p=0.52) between the variables of the parents' level of knowledge and adherence to treatment, since knowledge is not a determining factor for compliance with treatment.
