Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge and practices of self-care in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who enter the emergency service of the guillermo almenara irigoyen hospital, year 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-11-14) Sanchez Montoya, Eleana Edith; Fernández Rengifo, Werther FernandoDiabetes mellitus should be understood as the metabolic disorder that involves a large number of etiologies, whose characteristic is chronic hyperglycemia mainly related to disturbances in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins Objective: To determine the relationship between knowledge and self-care practices in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who enter the Emergency Service of the Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen Hospital, year 2021 Method: An investigation is proposed using the hypothetical-deductive method, which is based on the analysis of a group and then generalizing its results to more general situations. A sample was taken in the Emergency service, which serves an average of 15 patients per day with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, for which an approximate of 900 patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus are projected during the 2-month study period. In addition, two instruments were used which had a reliability through the Cronbach Alpha coefficient of 0.806, which demonstrates that the instrument is reliable. to determine the relationship between the study variables Conclusion: There is a statistically significant relationship between knowledge and self-care practice in adult patients with diabetes.
