Ítem Acceso abierto Daytime sleepiness related to quality of life in patients with chronic respiratory diseases at the Centro médico familiar Valle Sharon, Lima, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-06-30) Sanchez Quiñones, Maricielo Dayana; Diaz Mau, Aimee YajairaDaytime sleepiness is a health problem prevalent among the adult population, with medical consultations for this disorder on the rise. 15% of the general population experiences mild to moderate daytime sleepiness, while 6.6% have severe daytime sleepiness. Previous studies show that patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) who also suffer from daytime sleepiness have higher morbidity and mortality rates compared to those with only COPD. Their quality of life is also affected. A study in Colombia demonstrated that 54.7% of patients with chronic respiratory diseases have impaired quality of life. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between daytime sleepiness and quality of life in patients with chronic respiratory diseases at the Valle Sharon Family Medical Center. Materials and Methods: The research will use the hypothetical-deductive method, non-experimental type, descriptive-correlational design, and cross-sectional approach. Instruments used include the Epworth Sleepiness Scale and the Saint George Questionnaire.
