Ítem Acceso abierto Critical review: effectiveness of nutritional intervention in the quality of life of adult patients with chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-05-25) Sandoval Sandoval, Marlene; León Cáceres, Johanna del CarmenNutritional intervention in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients on renal replacement therapy (RRT) affects their quality of life. This research, titled as a critical review: ‘Effectiveness of nutritional intervention in the quality of life of adult patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis,’ aimed to identify the effectiveness of nutritional intervention in this patient group. The clinical question was: ‘What is the effectiveness of nutritional intervention on the quality of life of adult patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis?’ The Evidence-Based Nutrition (EBN) methodology was used. Information was gathered from ScienceDirect, PubMed, and Scielo, finding 46 articles, 20 of which were selected and evaluated using the CASPE critical reading tool. The final article selected was titled ‘Systematic review of the effect of nutritional intervention on the serum phosphorus levels of patients with CKD undergoing hemodialysis; with Evidence BI and Strong Recommendation Grade.’ The critical commentary concluded that nutritional intervention involves providing a modified diet plan, timely addition of oral or intradialytic nutritional support to prevent malnutrition, along with nutritional education for CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis, improving adherence to diet and nutritional supplements, and emphasizing the importance of nutrition.
