Publicación Acceso abierto Relación de hemoglobina, hematocrito vs. índice de masa corporal en escolares de 3 a 15 años del AA.HH. "Nuevo Pachacutec", enero–octubre 2016(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-12-04) Roque Alcántara, Betania Liseth; Santisteban Flores, Gelin; Parreño Tipián, Juan ManuelThis study was conducted with the objective of determining the relationship between hemoglobin, hematocrit, and body mass index (BMI) in schoolchildren aged 3 to 15 years from the AAHH “Nuevo Pachacútec,” during the period from January to October 2016. Methodologically, the study was descriptive, analytical, observational, and prospective with a longitudinal design. Hemoglobin, hematocrit, and BMI parameters were evaluated in 120 schoolchildren. The results obtained were as follows: Hemoglobin: 8% had decreased values and 49% had increased values; Hematocrit: 20% had decreased values and 28% had elevated values; BMI: 48% were underweight, 48% had normal weight, and 4% were overweight. When correlating hematological parameters with BMI using the Chi-square test, values below 0.05 were obtained, with a p-value of 0.022 for the distribution of BMI with hematocrit and a p-value of 0.004 for the distribution of BMI with hemoglobin, confirming the existence of a relationship between BMI and hematological parameters.
