Ítem Acceso abierto Critical Review: Effect of the nutritional intervention of the Mediterranean diet in the treatment of patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-08-16) Santolalla Gutiérrez, Francesca Pierina; Espinoza Rado, Erika PaolaNon-alcoholic fatty liver disease is a prevalent disease affecting 25% of the world population, distinguished by the presence of fat vacuoles, especially triglycerides in the liver, greater than 5% in patients without alcohol consumption and in the absence of other causes of liver disease. These long-term inflammatory changes can progress to liver cirrhosis. Consequently, a nutritional intervention with a Mediterranean diet, but with calorie restriction, has a lot of significance for the components of the diet exactly because of the protective effect of antioxidants. The present secondary research entitled as a critical review: Effect of the nutritional intervention of the Mediterranean diet in the treatment of patients with non-alcoholic hepatic steatosis, had the objective of exposing, through a professional critical commentary, the positive impact of the nutritional intervention with the Mediterranean diet in the treatment of adult patients with non-alcoholic hepatic steatosis. The clinical question was: What is the effect of nutritional intervention with a Mediterranean diet in the treatment of adult patients with non-alcoholic hepatic steatosis? The Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodology was used. The information search was carried out in PUBMED, MEDLINE, SCIELO, SCOPUS, SCIENCE DIRECT, finding 41 articles, 9 being selected that have been evaluated by the CASPE critical reading tool, finally selecting the article titled The effectiveness and acceptability of the diet Mediterranean with calorie restriction in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which has a level of evidence I and Grade of Recommendation I, according to the expertise of the researcher. The critical comment approved that there is a positive impact of nutritional intervention with a Mediterranean diet with caloric restriction in the treatment of adult patients with non-alcoholic hepatic steatosis, stopping liver damage and progression to non-alcoholic cirrhosis that is irreversible.
