Materials and Methods: Systematic review of scientific literature from databases such as SciELO, Enfermagen, and the National Journal of Medical Sciences. Results: A total of 10 articles were obtained using inclusion and exclusion criteria, and an analysis of quality and access to full text. Of these, 20% (2) were studies from Spain, 40% (4) from Brazil, 20% (2) from India, 10% (1) from Colombia, and 10% (1) from Africa. These studies focused on various healthcare professionals, including nurses, doctors, nursing and medical students, laboratory technicians, and sterilization center staff. Conclusions: Barriers to adherence to personal protective equipment use included organizational, administrative, individual, and interpersonal factors, which were expressed through physical infrastructure, lack of routines, workload overload, stress, improvisation, and strained work relationships.
