Ítem Acceso abierto Functionality and length of hospital stay in icu patients from a National Hospital Of Callao, 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-05-27) Segura Castro, Tatyana Andrea; Chero Pisfil, Santos LucioPatients who remain in an ICU bed experience alterations in cardiorespiratory function and motor function. A prolonged hospital stay leads to decreased airway permeability, reduced thoracic expansion, increased incidence of pneumonia, muscle weakness, decreased muscle mass, and muscle atrophy due to disuse, all of which result in decreased functionality. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between functionality and hospital stay duration in ICU patients. The Functional Independence Measure (FIM) scale and a data collection form will be used to obtain the length of hospital stay in days from a sample of 80 patients at two different moments: upon ICU admission and upon discharge.
