    Uso tradicional de Jatropha curcas L. (Piñón blanco) en personas del centro poblado Naranjitos Utcubamba, Amazonas – 2023

    The objective of this research was to evaluate the traditional use of Jatropha curcas L. (Piñón blanco) among the inhabitants of the rural community of Naranjitos, Utcubamba, Amazonas, in 2023. The methodology followed a deductive approach with a quantitative focus, classified as basic research, using a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and descriptive design. A survey of 13 questions regarding the traditional use of Jatropha curcas L. was administered to a sample of 231 residents. Results showed that traditional use of the plant was highly prevalent (81.4%), with its main application being as an antibacterial agent (49.4%). The most commonly used plant parts were the stem (49.4%), prepared as a poultice (100%); the leaves (15.1%), prepared as an infusion (94.3%); and the seeds (3.9%), consumed as juice (100%). The main routes of administration were poultice and juice (100%) and infusion (94.3%). In conclusion, statistical analysis indicated that the traditional use of Jatropha curcas L. (Piñón blanco) is highly widespread, largely due to family recommendations, with 96.6% of users reporting no adverse reactions.
