    Education for humanity in general in the present is one of the fundamental activities for the development of societies that is why governments and institutions make their best efforts to offer the fundamental elements to those who belong to the educational system, for that reason in Colombia has been implementing the Single School Day. It is also important to recognize that reading and writing a language, in this case Spanish, are the driving axis of learning. The thesis aims to determine the difference in the academic achievement of Spanish between sixth-grade students from a single-day school and an ordinary-day school in Bucaramanga, 2018. The research is with a quantitative approach, of a basic type, with a comparative descriptive level and non-experimental design, with a population of 140 sixth grade students from two high school educational institutions using a census sample. The data collection technique is the survey and two questionnaires designed by the researcher and validated by experts were used as an instrument. The research allowed to conclude that if there is a significant difference between the academic achievements of Spanish of the sixth-year students of a school with a single school day and one with an ordinary school day in Bucaramanga 2018, evidencing in the academic achievement of Spanish that the average of ranges is 83.95% in ordinary day students compared to 57.05% in single day school.
