    Sarcopenia and quality of life in older independent adults of CAP III Huaycán, 2023

    Sarcopenia, a geriatric syndrome, is a muscular problem that affects both the quality and quantity of muscle, leading to decreased strength and muscle function. This is caused by intrinsic and extrinsic factors, affecting the quality of life of older adults, as it reduces their physical capacity, expectations, physical state, and independence. The objective of this project is to determine the relationship between sarcopenia and quality of life in independent older adults from CAP III Huaycán in 2023. Methodology: A hypothetical-deductive study with a quantitative approach, applied type, descriptive-correlational design, non-experimental technique, and cross-sectional nature. The sample consisted of independent older adults who attended the Physical Therapy service at CAP III Huaycán, using non-probabilistic convenience sampling with inclusion and exclusion criteria. The techniques used were the SARC-F, a tool for detecting sarcopenia, and the SF-36 quality of life survey.
