"quiquo"(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-03-01) Huarcaya Huarcaya, Liliana; Sotelo Saravia, Nancy Avelina; Chávez Flores, Juana ElviraThe objective of this study was to determine the analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities of the ethanolic extract of Bidens andicola H.B.K “quiquo” flowers. For the analgesic activity, the modified Koster et al. model was employed, and the study groups were: negative control (distilled water), positive control (0.8% glacial acetic acid), ethanolic extract of Bidens andicola H.B.K. “quiquo” flowers at 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg, paracetamol 300 mg/kg, and tramadol 40 mg/kg. For the anti-inflammatory activity, the plantar edema method with 1% albumin was used, and the groups were: negative control (distilled water), ibuprofen 400 mg/kg, dexamethasone 1 mg/kg, and the ethanolic extract at 200, 400, and 600 mg/kg. The results show that the ethanolic extract of Bidens andicola H.B.K. “quiquo” flowers at 100 mg/kg (65%) and 200 mg/kg (70%) exhibits analgesic activity, lower than tramadol (91%) but comparable to paracetamol (81%). Regarding the anti-inflammatory activity, the ethanolic extract at 200, 400, and 600 mg/kg demonstrated efficacy, with the 600 mg/kg dose showing the greatest anti-inflammatory effect (100%), similar to dexamethasone and ibuprofen. It was confirmed that the ethanolic extract of Bidens andicola H.B.K. “quiquo” flowers possesses both analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities.Publicación Acceso abierto Evaluación de la eficacia y seguridad de la enoxaparina usada como profilaxis de trombosis venosa profunda en pacientes con COVID-19 en el servicio de UCI de la Clínica Internacional en el periodo de abril de 2020–abril de 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-12-14) Sotelo Saravia, Nancy Avelina; Chávez Flores, Juana ElviraObjective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of enoxaparin used as prophylaxis for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in COVID-19 patients in the ICU service of Clínica Internacional during the period April 2020 – April 2021. Methodology: An observational, cross-sectional, descriptive, and retrospective study was conducted. A total of 197 medical records of COVID-19 patients who received enoxaparin were analyzed. Efficacy was measured by the recurrence of thrombosis, and safety by the incidence of bleeding in different grades. Data were processed using Microsoft Excel 2016 and IBM SPSS 25.0. Results: The efficacy of enoxaparin used as prophylaxis for deep vein thrombosis was 97.5%; however, a recurrence of thrombosis was observed in 2.5% of patients. Regarding safety, 93.4% was achieved: 5.6% presented clinically relevant non-major bleeding, 1% presented major bleeding, and none presented fatal bleeding during the study period. Conclusion: The evaluation showed that the efficacy and safety of enoxaparin used as prophylaxis for deep vein thrombosis in COVID-19 patients treated in the ICU service of Clínica Internacional were greater than 80% during the period April 2020 – April 2021.
