Ítem Acceso abierto Level of knowledge and application of preventive measures on nosocomial pneumonia in Nursing professionals who work in emergency, Lima - 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-04-03) Soto Zacarías, María Soledad; Palomino Taquire, RewardsNosocomial pneumonia is considered a significant public health problem worldwide, affecting not only patients but also their families and communities. Healthcare facilities are regarded as one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in the population. The primary objective of the study is to establish the relationship between the level of knowledge and the application of preventive measures for nosocomial pneumonia among nursing professionals. This research employs a quantitative, observational, correlational, and cross-sectional approach. The population and census sample include nurses working in the emergency service of the María Auxiliadora Hospital during the period of March and April 2022. To measure the level of knowledge, a questionnaire developed and validated by Cinthia Campos Aguilar and Violeta Florián Morales in 2018 was used. This instrument consists of 20 items divided into two dimensions: basic prevention measures and specific prevention measures, with a Cronbach's alpha reliability of 0.835. To determine the application of preventive measures for nosocomial pneumonia, an Observation Guide created and validated by the same authors in 2018 was used. This instrument consists of 18 items across six dimensions, with a Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient of α= 0.888. The data will be statistically processed using Spearman's correlation coefficient and presented in tables and figures.
