Publicación Acceso abierto Comparación del tratamiento del sulfato ferroso en jarabe con las galletas Nutri H en niños anémicos del Valle Amauta, Ate año 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-11-30) Carhuallanqui Prieto, Maribel; Suazo Huaman, Beatriz Carmen; Parreño Tipián, Juan ManuelThe general objective of this research was to determine the efficacy of treatment with ferrous sulfate syrup and Nutri H biscuits in anemic children from the Valle Amauta Ate in 2021. Materials and methods: A quasi-experimental–longitudinal design was used, with an applied type and a comparative explanatory level. The population was all anemic children in Valle Amauta, and the probabilistic sample consisted of 89 boys and girls with a diagnosis of mild to moderate anemia, aged 2 to 11. Anemia screening was performed before and after treatment. The children were divided into two groups: the first was treated with ferrous sulfate syrup, and the second with Nutri H biscuits. The ferrous sulfate group consumed 3mg/kg per day, and the Nutri H biscuit group consumed one packet daily, which contained 16.5 mg of iron, for 30 days. Consumption was evaluated daily and reported on a data collection form. Student's t-test was used at a 5% significance level. Results: The ferrous sulfate group had an average hemoglobin value of 10.9 g/dL and a hematocrit of 33% at the start, and 11.8 g/dL and 36% at the end of the treatment. The Nutri H biscuit group had an average hemoglobin value of 11 g/dL and a hematocrit of 34% at the start, and 11.8 g/dL and 36% at the end. The p-value for hemoglobin was p=0.294, and for hematocrit it was p=0.369. Conclusion: Both treatments are effective in combating anemia, meaning there is no difference in the increase of hemoglobin and hematocrit with the supplementation of ferrous sulfate syrup and Nutri H biscuits.
