Ítem Acceso abierto Professional burnout syndrome in nurses working in the emergency department of a Lima hospital, 2020(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-11-05) Surco Ccohua, Honorato; Uturunco Vera, Milagros LizbethObjective: To determine burnout syndrome in nursing staff working in the emergency department of a hospital in Lima, 2020. Materials and Methods: This was a quantitative study with a descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional design, as the variable was not manipulated and the data was measured at a single point in time. The population was finite, consisting of 45 nursing professionals working in the emergency department of a hospital in Lima. The instrument used was the Maslach Burnout Inventory (HRDT-22). Data processing was performed using statistical programs (Excel and SPSS). Results: Regarding burnout syndrome in nursing staff, it was found that 40.0% of the 45 participants had a medium level of burnout, 31.1% had a low level, and 28.9% had a high level of burnout. In terms of dimensions, in emotional exhaustion, 40.0% had a medium level, 31.1% had a high level, and 28.9% had a low level. In the depersonalization dimension, 53.3% had a medium level, 26.7% had a high level, and 20.0% had a low level. In the personal accomplishment dimension, 37.8% had a medium level, 31.1% had a low level, and 31.1% had a high level. These percentages were similar. Conclusion: The majority of nursing professionals present a medium level of burnout syndrome.
