Publicación Acceso abierto Consumo de psicoestimulantes lícitos y somnolencia diurna en estudiantes de Farmacia y Bioquímica de la Universidad Norbert Wiener, Lima 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-07-13) Paredes Huanuqueño, Oscar Raul; Surichaqui Cerrón, Zulema Yrene; Collanque Pinto, Jesús DanielThe study aimed to determine the relationship between the consumption of legal psychostimulants and daytime sleepiness in Pharmacy and Biochemistry students. A quantitative, basic-type, non-experimental, and cross-sectional design was employed, with a sample of 260 randomly selected students. Data were collected through a validated questionnaire, and hypotheses were tested using the Chi-square test and Cramer’s V. Findings revealed that 97% of participants consumed legal psychostimulants and 87.3% reported daytime sleepiness. However, no significant relationship was found between psychostimulant consumption and daytime sleepiness (p = 0.275). Weak correlations were observed between the consumption of energy drinks and stimulant drugs with sleepiness, but not with energy infusions. Additionally, a weak relationship was identified between the frequency of energy drink consumption and sleepiness, and a moderate one with the frequency of energy infusion consumption, while no significant relationship was established with stimulant drug use. In conclusion, no significant association was found between the consumption of legal psychostimulants and daytime sleepiness among the students.
