Ítem Acceso abierto Efficacy of preoperative shaving to reduce infection at the surgical site of the postoperative patient(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 1905-07-09) De La Rosa Mauricio, Yurico Lili; Tabraj Esteban, Rosa Luz; Rivera Lozada de Bonilla, OrianaThe systematic review of the 10 scientific articles on the effectiveness of preoperative shaving in reducing surgical site infection were found in the Cochrane Plus database, all of them correspond to the type and design of Systematic Reviews studies. The reviewed articles state that there are no differences in surgical field infection between patients whose hair was removed or not before surgery. If hair removal is necessary, then hair cutting and depilatory creams cause less infection of the surgical field than shaving with a razor. There is no difference in surgical field infection when patients are shaved or cut the day before surgery or on the day of surgery. The reviews do not find sufficient evidence to demonstrate an effect of preoperative hair removal on a rate of surgical site infection and the relative effects of shaving and waxing. Therefore, it is concluded that there is not enough scientific evidence to define the effectiveness of preoperative shaving or not shaving preoperatively in reducing surgical site infection, therefore shaving or not shaving is at the technical discretion of the head of the surgery team. Se concluye que no existe evidencia científica suficiente que defina la eficacia del rasurado preoperatorio o el no rasurado preoperatorio en la disminución de la infección del sitio quirúrgico, por ende el rasurado o no rasurado queda a criterio técnico del jefe del equipo de cirugía.Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge level of mothers about exclusive breastfeeding in children under 6 months of age at the Infantas Health Center – S.M.P. 2015 II(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Núñez Domínguez, Lilia Amire; Tabraj Esteban, Rosa Luz; Yamaguchi Diaz, Lady PatriciaBreastfeeding is considered the best food that can be exclusively provided to an infant until six months of age, and with other foods until two years. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) have recognized breastfeeding (BF) as essential in human nutrition and have promoted it through various global initiatives for decades. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge of mothers about exclusive breastfeeding for infants under 6 months of age. Materials and Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted at the INFANTAS Health Center in S.M.P in October 2015, applied to a sample of 117 mothers who voluntarily agreed to participate. A questionnaire was applied to the mothers after informed consent, who were in the waiting area of the Growth and Development Service. The data was entered into a database in Excel and analyzed in SPSS. Results: The level of knowledge of the mothers was medium for 63.3%, low for 19.7%, and high for 17.1%. Conclusion: The majority of mothers demonstrated a medium level of knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding. It is necessary for improvement interventions to be directed at the mothers, healthcare establishments, and the personnel providing care.
