Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge and practice on hand washing of nursing staff in the neonatal intensive care service of a hospital in Lima(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-09-04) Tapia Abarca, Lizeth Manuela; Montoro Valdivia, Marcos AntonioThe Hungarian physician Ignaz Semmelweis, around 1818, stated that handwashing helps combat infections that occur in hospital environments. For the Pan American Health Organization, promoting handwashing is crucial to reduce infections in healthcare settings. The objective of this study is to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and practice of handwashing among nursing staff in the neonatal intensive care unit of a hospital in Lima, 2022. The research method will be hypothetical-deductive, with a quantitative approach, correlational design, non-experimental, and cross-sectional. The sample will consist of 80 nursing staff members. The data collection techniques will include two methods: surveys and observation guides, and two instruments: a questionnaire and an observation guide, both previously validated. For data processing and analysis, the instrument will be applied, and once the information is collected, the completeness will be checked. The data will then be tabulated in Excel and SPSS version 26. To test the hypothesis, a non-parametric chi-square test will be used to relate the variables. The results will be presented in tables or graphs.
