Ítem Acceso abierto Distance traveled and its relationship with body mass index in the elderly at the Essalud Huaraz hospital - 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-05-04) Tapia Jacinto, Kely July; Cautín Martinez, Noemi EstherPopulation aging is increasing in many countries, and older adults experience fundamental physiological changes that raise the risk of non-communicable diseases (WHO). Inadequate nutrition in older adults reflects in BMI alterations, ranging from weight loss to obesity, affecting physical activity, lung capacity, and heart rate. Therefore, the 6-minute walk test will be applied to measure the distance traveled by older adults. Objective: To determine the relationship between the distance traveled and the body mass index in older adults at EsSalud Huaraz in 2022. The method used for this research will be the hypothetical-deductive applied, correlational descriptive design. The population will consist of 350 older adults attending EsSalud Huaraz, with a non-probabilistic purposive sampling size of 100 older adults. IBM SPSS version 25 for Windows will be used for statistical analysis, aiming to find the relationship between BMI and distance traveled.
