Ítem Acceso abierto Anxiety and depression in teens in the 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade of secondary school 1219 Jose Carlos Mariategui, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-04-12) Tarazona Valverde, Gianfranco Pyer; Gonzales Saldaña, Susan HaydeeThe present research aims to determine the relationship between anxiety and depression among 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade high school adolescents at 1219 José Carlos Mariátegui School in 2023. Methodologically, it was structured under a hypothetical-deductive, applied, quantitative, cross-sectional, non-experimental, and correlational method, involving a population of 522 participants. The sample consisted of 222 students, and questionnaires were used as instruments for each variable. The results showed that 55% of the participants were predominantly male. Anxiety levels were within normal limits for 61% of the participants, while depression was at a mild level for 58%. It was evidenced that emotional and physical discomfort dimensions significantly correlated with depression with a p-value of 0.000. It is concluded that there is a significant relationship between anxiety and depression among 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade high school adolescents at 1219 José Carlos Mariátegui School in 2023. This conclusion is supported by a significance level of 0.000 and a coefficient of 0.726, indicating an increase in depression levels as anxiety levels rise in adolescents.
