Ítem Acceso abierto Nursing care and satisfaction of elective cesarean section patients at a national hospital in Lima, 2020(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-09-04) Tello Goñas, Jennifer Susana; Arevalo Marcos, Rodolfo AmadoAccording to the World Health Organization (WHO), the ideal cesarean section rate should range between 10% and 15%, as it is an effective surgical procedure to achieve the prevention of perinatal and maternal morbidity and mortality when performed for duly justified reasons. However, in the case of elective cesarean section, its effectiveness has not been proven, even more so if one considers that this type of intervention, like any other surgery, carries risks that can affect the health of the mother and the newborn even several years after its performance. (1). Along these lines, it is important to highlight that the risk of mortality with cesarean section increases six times compared to vaginal delivery (2). Despite this, by 2018 it was found that more than 60% of the 169 countries analyzed by the WHO exceeded the estimated 15% (3). In this context, nursing care assumes special relevance for the prompt recovery of patients, although this role still does not have due recognition within these procedures.
