Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of a Physical Exercise Program on Static and Dynamic Balance in Elderly Adults at the Senior Citizens' Center in Canto Grande - San Juan de Lurigancho 2017(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-10-23) Lores Marcos, Diana Carolina; Tello Montoya, Jesús Augusto; Ventura Alarcón, Yadira SulemaIt is a pre-experimental study of a quantitative, prospective, analytical, longitudinal design, with an application level and a duration of three months. An evaluation was conducted with 60 older adults, using the modified Tinetti scale before and after the exercise program. Each session was group-based, held twice a week, with a duration of 45 minutes for 3 months. The patient population consisted of 20 men and 40 women. According to age, the participants were divided into three age groups: 25 patients aged 60 to 70, 19 patients aged 71 to 80, and 16 patients aged 81 to 90. According to gender, after the exercise program, 95% of the men showed minimal fall risk, and the women showed the same percentage. According to age, after the program, those aged 60 to 70 had a high fall risk, and 96% had minimal fall risk. Among those aged 71 to 80, 10.5% of patients had a high fall risk, and 89.5% had a minimal fall risk. Among those aged 81 to 90, 0.00% of patients had a high fall risk, and 100% had minimal fall risk. It is concluded that the physical exercise program was effective in improving the static and dynamic balance of older adults at the Senior Center in Canto Grande – San Juan de Lurigancho.
