Ítem Acceso abierto Segmental lumbar instability and low back pain in agricultural personnel working on the Santa Patricia de Huaral farm, 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-12-01) Tolentino Aguilar, Alexis Pedro; Arrieta Córdova, Andy FreudLow back pain is the leading cause of medical consultations worldwide, affecting 70% of people according to the World Health Organization. It is also the leading cause of living many years with disability globally. Lumbar instability is defined as an abnormal condition of the spine and/or joints of two or more adjacent vertebrae, causing excessive movement between the structures. The main characteristics of low back pain include intensity, onset time, pain location, and frequency. This is related to known causes: specific (15%) and nonspecific (85%). Lumbar instability is characterized by two types: acute, secondary to trauma or surgery, and chronic, caused by partial trauma or disease. Workers at the Santa Patricia farm are vulnerable to low back pain due to work-related effort, harvesting, and transporting fruit boxes combined with repetitive, forced, and inadequate postures. This can lead to absenteeism, impacting the economy, company productivity, and psychological levels, as well as causing anxiety among agricultural staff.
