The approach was quantitative, non-experimental, correlational and cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 215 nursing students. Two validated instruments were used, such as the emotional regulation questionnaire and the academic procrastination scale. The SPSS26 program was used, where the normality test, the statistical significance (p<.05) and the Spearman's Rho correlation coefficient were analyzed. Based on the results, it was evidenced that emotional regulation was at a moderate level (48.84%) and academic procrastination at a high level (61.40%); on the other hand, the relationship between emotional regulation and academic procrastination, the result was an inverse and significant relationship (Spearman's Rho = -.75, p = .000), thus the alternate research hypothesis was accepted. Likewise, a significant and inverse relationship was found between emotional regulation and postponement of activities (Spearman's Rho = -.70, p = .000), as well as emotional regulation and academic self-regulation (Spearman's Rho = -.71, p = .000). In conclusion, there is an inverse and significant relationship between emotional regulation and academic procrastination, that is, the higher the emotional regulation, the lower the academic procrastination in nursing students from a Private University of Lima East.
