The clinical question was: What are the effects of a vegetarian diet on the progression of kidney disease in patients with chronic kidney disease? The methodology used was Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE). The review of the study gave rise to a critical comment which allowed us to conclude that the vegetarian diet is significantly associated with a lower prevalence of chronic kidney disease, obtaining multiple benefits, including better blood pressure control, lower production of uremic toxins, and preventing progression. of kidney disease, however more large-scale randomized controlled trials are needed.
