Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge about self-care and the practice of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Juan Pérez Carranza Health Center, Lima 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-02-06) Torres Castillo, Vilma; Gonzales Saldaña, Susan HaydeeThe objective of this thesis was to “determine how the level of knowledge is related to the practice of self-care in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Juan Pérez Carranza del Cercado health center in Lima, 2023.” Methodology was quantitative, hypothetical - deductive, applied, nonexperimental, correlational, and transversal. The instrument of González (62) and Sánchez (63) was used to collect information on the variables. The SPSS v-25 program was used to process the data. The results reveal that 41.2% of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus have a low level of knowledge, 29.4% have a medium level of knowledge and 29.4% have a high level of knowledge. Also, 50.6% of self-care practices are poor, 23.5% are regular, and 25.9% are good. The pathology dimension of diabetes is significantly related to the self-care practices variable with the significance value p=0.000; The eating habits dimension is significantly related to the self-care practices variable with a significance value of p=0.010, the physical activity dimension is significantly related to the self-care practices variable with a significance value of p=0.001, and the complication prevention dimension is significantly related to the self-care practices variable with a significance value of p=0.010. significantly relates to the self-care practices variable with values of p=0.005. In conclusion, there is a statistically significant relationship between the level of knowledge and the practice of self-care in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Juan Pérez Carranza del Cercado health center in Lima, in the year 2023. Rho = 0.408 and significance value p =0.000.
