Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of pulmonary surfactant administration in premature neonates with respiratory distress syndrome(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-08-12) Torres Pinedo, Rosa Patricia; Sanchez Grandez, María Eugenia; Calsin Pacompia, WilmerMost studies corroborate that in 80% of newborns with respiratory distress syndrome, the use of surfactant improves lung function more effectively and decreases the duration of mechanical ventilation and the use of oxygen; Of the total number of critically evaluated articles, 08 of 10 evidence the effectiveness of surfactant administration in premature newborns with respiratory distress syndrome, because the studies demonstrated an initial improvement in respiratory status (improved oxygenation and less need for ventilatory support) and a significant decrease in the risk of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) or death at 28 days of life and 02 out of 10 do not show efficacy, because they do not deal with the efficacy of the surfactant, but rather with the method that was used for its administration.
