Likewise, bariatric surgery is also an excellent alternative as the fastest method of weight loss. The purpose of this study, defined as a critical review, entitled: Influence of bariatric surgery on the quality of life of obese patients, was to determine the impact of bariatric surgery on the quality of life, both physical and intellectual, of obese patients. The Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE) methodological scheme was used. To carry out the information search, the databases were used: PUBMED, EMBASE, SCOPUS and WEB OF SCIENCE. 155 articles were found, of which 20 were selected. Likewise, the selected articles were evaluated using the CASPE critical reading instrument. Finally, the Systematic Review and Meta-analysis titled “Long-term health-related quality of life in patients who have undergone bariatric surgery: systematic review and meta-analysis” was selected, which has a level of evidence IA and Grade of Recommendation. Strong, according to the researcher's expertise. The critical comment made it possible to determine that more studies are needed to specify the benefits in the mental domain of bariatric surgery in the long term. However, there is evidence available that shows the impact of bariatric surgery in obese patients on mood, depression and anxiety. What is certain is that bariatric surgery is one of the treatments with short and long-term results for weight reduction and therefore on some aspects of mental health and the correct approach will allow us better adherence to the treatment and therefore improve the health of patients.
