Ítem Acceso abierto Relationship Between Lipid Profile and Atherogenic Indices with Glycated Hemoglobin Levels in Patients Attended at María Auxiliadora Hospital, 2017(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-02-12) Berrocal Luna, Norma Yanina; Torres Venegas, Andrea Carolina; Sandoval Vegas, Miguel HernánThe objective was to determine the relationship between lipid profile and atherogenic indices with glycated hemoglobin levels in patients attended at the María Auxiliadora Hospital in 2017. Material and Methods: Observational, analytical, retrospective, cross-sectional study. Total cholesterol (TC), HDL cholesterol (cHDL), LDL cholesterol (cLDL), triglycerides (TG), and atherogenic indices: TC/cHDL, cLDL/cHDL, C-no HDL/cHDL were analyzed in 5562 blood sample results using the Chi-square statistical test. Results: The results for normal HbA1c showed recommendable levels of TC, cHDL, cLDL, and TG (72.5%, 32.2%, 68.3%, and 67.6%, respectively). The results for prediabetes HbA1c showed recommendable levels of TC, cHDL, cLDL, and TG (67.6%, 27.2%, 61.9%, and 60.7%, respectively). The results for diabetes HbA1c showed recommendable levels of TC, cHDL, cLDL, and TG (67.4%, 30.5%, 62.7%, and 57.4%, respectively). The atherogenic indices showed recommendable levels in all three groups. There was a significant relationship between HbA1c and TC (p<0.001), cHDL (p=0.016), cLDL (p<0.001), triglycerides (p<0.001), and the atherogenic indices TC/cHDL (p<0.001), cLDL/cHDL (p<0.001), and C-no HDL/cHDL (p<0.001). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the lipid profile, atherogenic indices, and HbA1c levels in patients attended at the María Auxiliadora Hospital in 2017.
