Ítem Acceso abierto Level of knowledge about cervical cancer and preventive practices in nursing graduates of the Norbert Wiener Private University, Lima 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-02-17) Trinidad Paucar, Fiorela; Gonzales Saldaña, Susan HaydeeThe main objective of this study was to determine the level of knowledge about cervical cancer and how it is related to preventive practices in nursing graduates of the Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, Lima 2022. Materials and methods: The research had a hypothetical-deductive method, quantitative approach, applied type, nonexperimental design and correlational scope; the population consisted of 137 nursing graduates from the Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener. The tool used in the study for the 2 variables presented was the survey, in the first variable 10 items were used which were divided into 3 dimensions: Knowledge of the origin of cervical cancer, knowledge of risk factors and knowledge of types of cervical cancer; for the second, 10 items were used which had 2 dimensions: preventing precancers and cancers. Results: 100% of the respondents were female, the age group of nursing graduates consisted of 30% aged 18- 25 years, 37% aged 26-30 years, 31% aged 31-40 years and 2% over 40 years. On the other hand, the marital status was represented by 55% were single, 18% married and 27% cohabiting. For the statistical part of the results, 51.5% of the graduates had a high knowledge of cervical cancer, 60.6% had a high knowledge of the origin of cervical cancer, 46.0% had a low knowledge of the risk factors of cervical cancer, 58.4% had a high knowledge of the types of cervical cancer; however, all of them had an inadequate knowledge of cervical cancer prevention practices. On the other hand, the level of knowledge is 16% related to preventive practices, the level of knowledge of the origin of cervical cancer is 58% related to preventive practices, the level of knowledge of risks and preventive practices is 15% related to preventive practices and the level of knowledge of the types of cervical cancer is 12% related to preventive practices. Conclusions: Variables were measured using the sperman correlation in SPSS with the data obtained from the survey and we conclude acceptance of the null hypothesis, where there is no significant relationship between the level of knowledge about cervical cancer and preventive practices in nursing graduates of the Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, Lima 2022.
