Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of the management of calcium concentrations in the dialysis liquid in the reduction of complications in patients with chronic renal insufficiency submitted to hemodialysis(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-02-29) Tello Bardales, Gina Lizeth; Ugarte Palacin, Lisbeth Katherine; Matta Solis, Hernan HugoObjective: To study and structure the effectiveness of managing calcium concentrations in dialysate fluid in reducing complications in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis. Material and Methods: A review of scientific articles was conducted, including observational, prospective, and retrospective quantitative studies, subject to analytical selection, using the GRADE tool for assessing the level of evidence. Articles were found in the following information sources: Journal of the Spanish Society of Nephrology, PLOS ONE Medicine, Therapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, Medicine (Baltimore), and Scientific Reports. Of the 10 articles reviewed, 40% (n=4/10) were randomized controlled clinical trials, 20% (n=2/10) pre-experimental studies, 20% (n=2/10) case and cohort/case-control studies, 10% (n=1/10) analytical cross-sectional study, and 10% (n=1/10) cohort study. The studies originated from the following countries: Spain (40%), United States (20%), Japan (20%), South Korea (10%), and Italy (10%). Results: The studies show that 100% (n=10/10) of the reviewed articles indicate that managing calcium concentrations in dialysate fluid reduces complications in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis. Conclusion: Managing calcium concentrations in dialysate fluid is effective in reducing complications in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis.
