Introduction: Nurses perform various actions in order to improve the quality of life of the patient. These range from educating patients to performing self-care. These activities are part of the promotional preventive action of the nurse. Which plays a very important role in regard to the health of the patient. Objective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and the practice of self-care in foot prevention in patients with diabetes from the cardiac/thoracic surgery service at the Hipolito Unanue National Hospital in Lima 2023. Methods: The survey of 186 will be used. people to measure foot self-care practices among hospitalized patients. The survey will have 24 items, it will be cross-sectional, non-experimental and quantitative. Furthermore, the results will be dichotomous; therefore, it will meet the criteria of high reliability 0.85 which indicates high reliability. That same level of reliability is also considered satisfactory for the knowledge level component of the Concordance Test. The sample adequacy measure presents high internal consistency. Experts agree that the Concordance Test scores above 0.8 and below 0.9, which indicates that it is reliable for self-care practices.
