Principales condiciones médicas y consumo de fármacos en personas con sintomatologías respiratorias que asisten a una botica en el distrito de Los Olivos, Lima 2023

The general objective of the study was “to determine the main medical conditions and drug consumption in individuals with respiratory symptoms attending a pharmacy in the Los Olivos district, Lima, 2023.” The type of research was basic, the method was deductive, the design was non-experimental, cross-sectional, and descriptive in nature. The sample consisted of 382 users who attended the pharmacy under study, selected through simple random probabilistic sampling. A questionnaire was applied as the data collection tool. The results showed that 62% were women and 38% were men. Bronchitis (82.9%) was the main lower respiratory tract disease, the common cold (67.6%) was the primary upper respiratory tract disease, and allergic rhinitis (53%) was the main chronic respiratory condition. It was also identified that cetirizine (39.6%), dexamethasone (34.2%), and amoxicillin + clavulanic acid (26.3%) in tablet form (66.8%) were the main medications used by the users. In conclusion, the main medical conditions in individuals with respiratory symptoms attending a pharmacy in the Los Olivos district, Lima, 2023 were upper respiratory tract diseases, and the most commonly consumed drug was cetirizine in tablet form.
