Ítem Acceso abierto Sensory motor stimulation as an effective intervention to reduce the transition period to full oral feeding in preterm infants(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-11-25) Conde Chura, Sheyla Lucila; Valencia Rojas, Lisbeth Gabriela; Avila Vargas Machuca, Jeannette GiselleObjective: The objective is to systematically analyze the evidence on sensory motor stimulation as an effective intervention to decrease the transition period to full oral feeding in preterm newborns. Material and Methods: The systematic review of the 10 scientific articles found on sensory motor stimulation as an effective intervention to decrease the transition period to full oral feeding in preterm newborns was conducted in the following databases: PubMed, Cochrane, and Scielo. All articles were analyzed according to the GRADE scale to determine their strength and quality of evidence. Results: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 30% (3/10) are meta-analyses, 10% (1/10) is a systematic review, and 60% (6/10) are experimental studies. Of the 10 systematically reviewed articles, 100% (10/10) provide evidence that sensory motor stimulation is an effective intervention to decrease the transition period to full oral feeding in preterm newborns. Conclusions: Of the 10 systematically reviewed articles, 100% (10/10) provide evidence that sensory motor stimulation is effective in decreasing the transition period to full oral feeding in preterm newborns.
