    Self-care and its relationship with adherence in patients with type II diabetes mellitus at the San Juan de Lurigancho Hospital, Lima 2022

    Objective: To determine the relationship between self-care and treatment adherence in patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus at the San Juan de Lurigancho Hospital, Lima, 2022. Materials and Methods: The research has a quantitative approach, with a descriptive and cross-sectional methodological design. The study uses a non-probabilistic, census sampling method, including 85 patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus who meet the inclusion criteria. Results: Inadequate self-care is present in 40% of patients, with poor treatment adherence in those with Type II Diabetes Mellitus, showing a 77% correlation. Inadequate self-care in the diet dimension is found in 43%, with poor treatment adherence in 41%. Inadequate self-care in the exercise dimension is found in 48.5%, with poor treatment adherence in 53%. Inadequate self-care in the glycemic control dimension is present in 42.5%, with poor treatment adherence in 59%.
