    The present investigation on Factors associated with work absenteeism of the pediatric and neonatal intensive care nursing professional was carried out in a Hospital of the Ministry of Health, with the objective of determining the factors associated with the work absenteeism of the pediatric and neonatal intensive care nursing professional in a Ministry of Health Hospital, having a crosssectional, prospective, descriptive, quantitative approach methodology. Applying a non-experimental design with a sample of 46 nursing professionals, having a probabilistic sampling; using the survey technique, having as an instrument the questionnaire on absenteeism and determining factors, having an extension of 21 items; resulting in the existence of factors related to absenteeism, being the individual factors where the causes of health, personal, family and geographical distance and with respect to organizational factors economic benefits, work overload, emotional exhaustion and facilities for change are the roles, both are related to absenteeism. In turn, it is evident with the present study that justified absenteeism has an incidence of 85% versus unjustified absenteeism, which has 15%, generating the following conclusions, there are factors associated with the nursing professional's absenteeism, determining them as individual factors and factors organizational.
